1979-1981
Initiated in 1979, it started as a partnership company known as Northern Elevator. Although the company began as a lift & escalator installation sub-contractor for Otis, Mitsubishi, Hitachi and Schindler, it has evolved to become one of the leading manufacturers in the lift and escalator industry. The company is a highly integrated lift and escalator manufacturer with a wide range of operations including equipment manufacturing, contracting, installation, servicing, maintenance, elevator consultancy services, equipment upgrading and reconditioning. |

1982-1990
Incorporated as Northern Elevator Sdn Bhd in May 1982, the company introduced, manufactured, supplied and installed its own brand of goods lifts and hoists. Significantly, it expanded to include installation sub-contracts for other brands like Toshiba, Fujitec and Kone, making it the principal elevator sub-contracting company in Malaysia. |

1991-1993
Having created a name in the industry, the company was then appointed as the sole agent of Hyundai elevator and escalator in Malaysia and sold more than 300 units. In the midst of growth, the company begins constructing its first plant in Bayan Lepas Industrial Estate, Penang, Malaysia. The company constructed its own elevator in the 5,000 square meter manufacturing plant.
In accordance with obtaining a manufacturing license, the Northern passenger lifts were then introduced to the market. In light of their success, they strategically set up branches in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. Throughout this duration, the company achieved stunning sales results in supplying and installing over 1000 units of Northern brand passenger and goods lifts in Malaysia. |

1994-1995
Northern Elevator Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (currently known as FUJI Lift and Escalator Manufacturing Sdn Bhd) was incorporated as the only 100 percent locally owned company involved in the manufacture of passenger lifts and escalators in Malaysia. The outstanding achievements were acknowledged by the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) of Malaysia when they were granted pioneer status. To develop high technology and passenger friendly elevator products, a technical collaboration was established with FUJI Electric Co. Ltd of Japan.
An immediate benefit of this technical collaboration is the development of a new elevator product that incorporates the latest advanced technology from Japan. Exhaustive tests carried out on the new product have revealed that the new elevator product is very reliable, stable and safe. The elevator system is also versatile, able to satisfy most client requirements especially in the aspects of reliability, smooth operation and a very comfortable ride.
In line with the latest advancements and developments, the company later incorporated a marketing company known as  FUJI Lift & Escalator Sdn Bhd. With the commitment to the brand and outstanding achievements, the company was later appointed distributor for other countries such as Singapore, Philipines, Jordan and United Arab Emirates. |

1996
An increased in productivity was reflected by the tremendous growth of the company in this year. Realizing that the company had the potential to grow quickly, FUJI Lift and Escalator caught the attention of Emico Holdings Bhd, and became a subsidiary company of the KLSE listed company. The company relocated its manufacturing plant to a larger site in the same vicinity.
The constant need to provide better products became a priority from this point. Hence, the investment in R&D and training centres. With the availability of both local and overseas expertise, the company has actively engaged in the area of research and development to develop new, improved and reliable products. Local technology has been integrated with the latest technologies imported from our overseas counterparts. Where necessary, local technical staff have also been sent for overseas training to further enhance their skills and knowledge. The technology transfer coupled with a strong research and development team has enabled the company to develop products for the future. |

1997-1998
Through 1997 and 1998, FUJI Lift and Escalator set up 2 major joint ventures. The company extended its reach to China under the name Quanzhou Fuji-Sino Elevator Co. Ltd. (a JV with Farlim Group and China Provincial Government). The second was an approximately 20,000 square meter escalator manufacturing plant at Prai Industrial Estate, Penang, Malaysia with SJEC China to locally produce the FUJI brand escalators. |

1999-2001
At FUJI Lift and Escalator, the company has an uncompromising commitment to providing our customers with quality technical products and services. This commitment has been certified by obtaining the ISO 9001:2001 Quality Certification for Design Production, Installation and Servicing. Due to economic reasons, a strategic decision was made to relocate the joint venture FUJI escalators manufacturing plant to China. |

2002-current
During the period of 2001 and 2004, even more progress was made as FUJI expanded and appointed distributors that included Iran, Kuwait, Egypt, Omar, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, etc. The company has undertaken the supply and installation of more than 6000 units of FUJI lifts and escalators in a multitude of facilities, shopping complexes and high rise buildings worldwide. Also within these 2 years, FUJI has designed, introduced and installed the innovative FUJI Machine-roomless lift. |
